Transfer Student FAQs I am interested in a major in psychology, how do I transfer to UCSC? Visit http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/transfer_guide.cfm What lower division courses should I complete at my community college? Before transferring to UCSC students should try to complete all of the five lower-division requirements. These introductory courses are prerequisites to each other and are not always offered every quarter. If you transfer without these courses you will find it much more difficult to complete the degree in 2 years. We expect students to devote most of their time to upper-division courses and Independent Studies during the junior and senior years. Are classes at my community college equivalent? Check the ASSIST web site to find out which courses are accepted for credit in Psychology. I know Psychology is popular. Are there any restrictions I should know about for the major? Yes, Transfer students must have an overall 3.0 GPA in all transferable courses completed prior to entering UCSC, with a minimum of 3.1 GPA in all psychology courses. We do not accept students for a second BA, or junior transfer students with 120+ quarter credits.
