Research Facilities Research environments
Graduate students have access to a variety of research facilities, including computer-controlled experimental laboratories, observation rooms, survey labs, and discourse/videotape coding laboratories. Many other research opportunities exist with diverse sample groups in both laboratory and natural settings. Computing Resources
Graduate students have access to excellent computer facilities at the UCSC Computer Center, as well as to personal computers (IBM and Macintosh) and minicomputers in individual laboratories and shared graduate facilities. Some of the application packages available include SPSS, SAS, SAS GRAPH, SAS/ETS, EQS, Excel, STATVIEW, Microsoft Word, and EndNote. The popular Unix operating system provides interactive services, web service, and file storage for registered students and faculty. Some of the programming languages and features offered on Unix are SAS, C, and several text editors. Statistical analysis is available with SPSS, SAS, EQS, MATLAB, MAPLE, and a database-management package. Library resources
The University Library is a fundamental resource in the intellectual and academic lives of students and faculty. The library holdings include more than 1.25 million volumes, over 600,000 microforms, and nearly 9,000 periodical titles. The collections in humanities, arts, and social sciences are housed in the McHenry Library, and the science collection in the Science Library. The entire holdings can be accessed via an online catalog. (See more at http://library.ucsc.edu )
